GEODIS crowned Business Fours Aberdeen Champions
The Hawkshill Course at Newmachar golf club provided a challenging course for the Business Fours Aberdeen qualifying event on Thursday.
With five qualifying positions up for grabs at the national final the golfers teed off in shorts and tee shirts before switching to rain gear later in the round.
Playing in support of several local charities it was Marine Technical Limits playing for Archway, MacDuff Shellfish playing in support of the Archie Founation, and Intona playing in support of Cash for Kids who qualified alongside runners up Fairfield Energy who were flying the flag for Prostate Cancer UK.
The golfers had a shot at winning a £2,500 donation for their chosen charity for an ace on the par 3 9th, a fantastic signature hole on the Hawkshill with the water very much in play. After hitting the pin on the 9th and with some practice before the national final, Adam from Marine Technical Limits will be hoping to win the £10,000 on offer for a hole in one!
It was logistics firm, GEODIS who were playing in support of Friends of ANCHOR that came out on top and were crowned the 2021 Aberdeen champions. Helped largely by fine individual scoring from captain Mikie Clark and the round of the day coming from Greig Masson.
In the individual prizes, Will Mitton from Marine Technical Limits hit it furthest to pick up the longest drive award on the 12th hole. Ron Mitchell from Intona and Harry Yorston from Fairfield Energy picked up the nearest the pin awards at the 6th and 15th respectively. Fairfield were once again in the prizes as teammate Steve Taylor set the unbeatable mark on hole 18 to win the longest putt award.
Tournament Partners, Caddyboo provided golf towels in the players’ goody bags which were put through their paces yesterday in the challenging on-course conditions.
The 5 teams will go on to meet other companies from across Scotland at the national final which is being held at Ladybank golf club on Tuesday 27th of July where there will be over £1,500 at stake for their chosen charities.
